“Small locs are popular because they can be styled and look great in professional settings.”

DIDJA KNOW that you can curl or rod tiny locs?

microlocs

Sisterlocks are tiny uniform locks that are the result of a precision parting grid, and the use of a specialized tool used to place the hair into its locking formation.  The Sisterlocks method does not require the use of waxes or gels.  The small size and parting grid form about 400 easily styled locks.

Traditional locs are most commonly created through palm rolling (or matting) medium to large amounts of hair, using a balm or wax.

Sisterlocks are installed using a special tool and much smaller portions of your hair.

Styling traditional locks can be a little challenging. Of course they look beautiful hanging down, but practice definitely makes perfect when it comes to up-dos and other styles. Another thing to remember is that the longer they get, the heavier they become and this can and will affect your ability to style your locs.

Sisterlocks have been said to be a lot easier to style because of their lighter weight and flatter root texture. Sisterlocks are also thinner, which makes it easier to create difficult or intricate styles.

Microlocks are a little bigger than Sisterlocks, and they don’t have a basic grid pattern.

Microlocks are very small locks similar to brotherlocks but not in a grid pattern. Sisterlocks are smaller than microlocks but are also in a grid pattern.

It is very important that you maintain a frequent schedule for retightening with your loctician. Without proper maintenance, your locs will surely break off.

It is best to keep them wrapped with a silk scarf at night to help tame the new growth.Silk is best because other fabrics can tear out sisterlocs, especially at the edges of the scalp. It is extremely important to get regular maintenance visits to ensure that your locs don’t break off over time, They are very tiny and breakage can occur if not maintained properly. Once the style is completed, there are a wide range of sisterloc styles one can have. However it is a very easy style to maneuver.
